When ethics and PR collide, a lesson for business and communication students: Own up to your mistakes and proactively remedy the situation you created instead of attempting to conceal it. That stuff worked when we had a handful of TV channels and a few newspapers, not with millions of citizen journalists. Great account on
the Guardian.

I think owning up to your mistakes is very important. Nobody is perfect, and by admitting when one is wrong or incorrect you look like a bigger person. Social media comes in all shapes and sizes thus, if you try to hide things you're going to get caught. Ethics is a big part of PR; we have to know when to draw the line. In PR we deal with critical moments and mistakes all the time and it's how you deal with them that counts.
I agree with what anonymous said. When dealing with media (all kinds) one has to be cautious enough not to give out a wrong message (intended or not).
People judge by what they read, watch on television and hear from friends and media is the 'in' part of this.
